Comments: There were only four of us at this meeting: Jaime, Dori, Jalane, and myself. Jaime had a yummy spread of hummus, salad, pizza and sweets. This was a shorter discussion since not everyone could make it but we all generally liked the book. I enjoyed it much more than the movie and we all felt that the characters motives were much more understandable.

It was a yummy lunch, interesting discussion and nice to have Jalane join our group!

This was a fun meeting & discussion! Everyone liked the book but it was interesting to hear each persons take on how Cal/Calliope was perceived. Eugenides did a good job of writing as a man/woman.

Comments: There were three members who finished the book completely. Generally everyone either liked it or was neutral about it. The discussion was interesting because even though more than half of us did not finish the book, we talked about it for almost two hours.

This was a great first discussion. We all basically liked the book but felt that there was too many elements to the story that did not come to fruition. Overall a great first meeting!
